Content Warnings: Anxiety, self-deprecation, depression, social stress

Dear friend,

I don’t really know how to explain how I feel right now. I guess I feel just a bit empty. I don’t have friends that I can talk to on a regular basis. I have emotionally strong friendships with people, so usually, I can go a couple weeks without texting them, or months without seeing them, and we get along just fine. It is a little hard right now though, because I could really use some in-person interaction, and a friend to have a long chat with. But I’m not getting either. I’m trying so desperately to fill my time, but I’m not sure how that’s going for me.

This past week has been very quiet and relaxing. I’ve been thinking a lot, talking to myself in my head a lot more than usual. I’ve learned a lot about my mental health, and the importance of taking it day by day. I’ve started to grow spiritually, which is important to me because this is a part of me that has taken a long time for me to come to terms with. I guess I was always ashamed of my perspective on life; how I assign a greater meaning to the little things, because I felt like I needed to be rational, logical, and rigid in my thinking. I got this feeling that my spirituality was almost like a personality defect. But it was only recently that I started to embrace the spiritual side. And it feels great to be like myself again. To let go of this feeling that I’m doing it all wrong. Just because the people around me have usually been the logical type, does not mean I’m wrong for being the spiritual type. Everyone is different, and no one is wrong for simply being themselves.

From,

A friend
