Letter #93

Content Warnings: academic stress, finals season

 

As a student, I am forced to cope with a lot of stress on a daily basis, as I have many exams, projects, and especially finals in the coming weeks. Especially as finals are coming up, it is important to do something that gives you a little boost of serotonin or just something that will make you happier no matter how little it is. I know I have people in my life that will make me happier when I speak to them. If I realize that I’m spending too much time doing homework, I will step back and take a break to call my friends, my family, or my girlfriend on the phone. Talking to people is something that can significantly help my mood.

 

Something else I like to do if I need a nice break is going to the gym and making sure my body is healthy. Since I love to lift, this is something I try to do consistently to give myself a break. For me personally, I have found that the days I go to the gym are significantly better than the ones when I am unable to go. Since I struggle a lot with stress, I have found that these two things really work out well for me and since I have started practicing them more regularly, things have gotten easier to handle. So, if you are ever feeling down, stressed, or anxious, take a step back and think about what makes you happy, and go do it. I promise that doing something you love, talking to someone you love, and focusing on yourself will cause you to see huge improvements.
