Letter #279

Content Warning: disordered eating, self-loathing

Dear You,

I see you. I see the way you stand in front of the mirror, searching for something—approval, acceptance, a sign that you are enough. I see the way you trace the outline of your body with critical eyes, the way you calculate meals like equations, the way your mind battles between control and surrender. I see the exhaustion in your heart, the weight of years spent measuring your worth by numbers, reactions, and silent comparisons.

I need you to know: your body is not a problem to be solved.

It is a home—a sacred, living vessel that has carried you through every joy and sorrow, every triumph and trial. It is the place where your laughter bursts forth, where your heartbeat echoes resilience, where your lungs rise and fall like the tides. It is not an enemy, not a project, not something to shrink or mold into someone else’s idea of beauty.

I know the whispers in your head, the ones that tell you that your value is conditional, that you must earn your right to love yourself. But those whispers are liars. Your worth was never meant to be weighed or calculated. You are enough, exactly as you are, in this moment, in this breath.

Healing your relationship with food, your mind, and your body is not about rules or restrictions—it is about reclaiming peace. It is about giving yourself permission to eat without guilt, to move with joy instead of punishment, to exist without justification. It is about learning to listen to your hunger, not just for food but for life, for connection, for self-compassion.

I know it’s hard. I know there will be days when the old thoughts come creeping back, when the mirror feels like an enemy and the scale whispers lies. But I also know that you are stronger than you think. I know that your body is not broken, that your mind is capable of unlearning, that your heart is ready to be at peace with itself.

So, if no one has told you today: You are worthy. You are enough. You are not defined by what you eat or how you look. You are loved, just as you are.

Keep going. Keep choosing kindness over criticism, freedom over fear, love over shame. Your body is listening, and it deserves to hear the truth.

With all my heart,

Me
