Letter #244

Content Warnings: Depression

Dear friend,

I hope you’re well. Unfortunately, I have been struggling a bit with my mental health. It’s one of those things that feels fine, but just hits you all of a sudden when you’re not keeping yourself busy.

I’ve been feeling kind of lonely, and it’s unbearable sometimes. I’m an introvert, and there is this misconception that all introverts are naturally anti-social, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I love being around people. I love forming deep connections with people, but I just need alone time to recharge my social batteries – that’s all. And even as an introvert, I need close friends around me, but sometimes, it feels like I don’t have that.

I know that it’s my responsibility to put myself out there more, but with college and everything, it’s just really hard. I’m having trouble finding a proper balance between my academic and social life. But it is one of those things that takes time to improve – I don’t expect myself to heal from my loneliness overnight. But it’s good that I’m deciding to finally do something about it.

It’s a start: might be a small one, but still a start regardless.

From,

A friend
